Apple-Peach Sauce (yum)

After running across this post, and making this delicious Maple Blueberry Jam, I decided to get creative with apple sauce.  Recently I had discovered a jar of apple sauce in my pantry and it was so good.

I cut up several apples, poured in several frozen organic peach slices, and turned up the heat (medium high).  I added about a tablespoon of lemon juice, some cinnamon, and some pumpkin spice. Then enjoyed the delicious smells.  I poured mine into my blender and blended for a few seconds, then poured it back in the pan.  Added three or four tablespoons of chia seeds, and voilà! Delicious apple and peach sauce!

In order to add a little protein, I have been adding sunflower and/or pumpkin seeds, and adding to the lunch I’m taking to work each day.  Such a delicious and nutritious snack.

Sound good?  Be adventurous!

  1.  Apples (I use fresh organic), cut up into chunks, skin on
  2.  Peaches, I used Costco (Columbia Fruit) frozen sliced peaches, unthawed
  3.  Cinnamon
  4.  Pumpkin Spice
  5.  Lemon Juice
  6. Chia Seeds (I use 2-4 Tablespoons)
  7.  Top with your favorite nuts

Sometimes you’ve just got to grab an apple – or grapes, or strawberries. Something that’s healthy but maybe a little bit more adventurous, if you can see fruit as adventurous.
