Oenothera Genus: Evening Primrose

Today the clouds moved on and the sun came out to warm our spirits. We were eager to head out for an evening stroll as soon as I signed off from work.

It was cool, but bright and sunny.Β  Among the many flowers and plants we found, were three lonely evening primrose flowers! Practicing sufficient “Social Distancing” (wow, will I be glad to never hear that term again) they were several feet apart, and blossoming in their own individual beauty.

Ring-ting! I wish I were a primrose, A bright yellow primrose blowing in the spring! The stooping boughs above me, The wandering bee to love me, The fern and moss to creep across, And the elm-tree for our king! ~Β William Allingham

And as a bonus, this beautiful wheat type grass was growing wild and beautiful! I don’t know what it is, but I love it!

I like primroses. Thank you for those. And I enjoyed that quotation, as well.

    1. Thank you! This flower seemed very out of place, but good rains brought great flowers this last spring.
