Last Sunday while hiking in our nearby desert area, we ran into fellow hikers who made us aware of a conservation area down the road. We had no idea this place was there. This morning we headed out to explore.
The paths were busy and active with other folks out walking, biking and enjoying the outdoors. Someone told us they just completed the first part, and they are working on additional lake areas and walking paths on the south side of the preserve.
The outdoor space includes some paths on one side of the street, preserving the site of a native american village and includes historical information along the way. Across the street is a small lake “wetlands” with birds, and multiple wild flowers and seating areas. Some of the flowers were planted and the area landscaped, in other areas wild seeds were scattered and created an absolutely beautiful sight to see.
In addition, the bike and walking path through this preserve links to the paths that surround our city, as an additional incentive for interaction.
I will be back soon to get more up close and personal with the flowers, bees and butterflies surrounding the gardens.
This time of social distancing is the perfect time to get closer to nature and God. Look around, you never know what you might discover!
Of course I’ve included a few photos below 😊
