Bobcat has my heart 🤎

“The life of the wood, meadow, and lake go on without us. Flowers bloom, set seed and die back; squirrels hide nuts in the fall and scold all year long; bobcats track the snowy lake in winter; deer browse the willow shoots in spring. Humans are but intruders who have presumed the right to be observers, and who, out of observation, find understanding.”
~ Ann Zwinger

He was after something in the reeds, but came back out with nothing.
Once another visitor approached from the other direction, he headed off the path and away.

“I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order.”
~ John Burroughs

Great shots! Every time I have seen them in the wild, I haven’t had a camera.

we have always depended on our bobcats to control the deer population here on Kiawah Lisa. Sadly we’ve lost 2/3 of them to poisonous pesticides over the past 18 months. Once we discovered it was the culprit we banned the pesticides (people use them to control marsh rats) but we have very few remaining now. A huge issue here on Kiawah. Your images are marvelous. They are such beautiful creatures.

    1. Oh, that is heart breaking! Someone told me this morning about a bunch of birds that died unexpectedly in another area of our country. They think it could be because of lack of bugs for food. I am not a fan of pesticides. I wonder if pesticides killed the bugs the birds eat. I do not know if that is the case. But it makes you wonder.

    1. Thank you, yes, he just looks so beautiful and sweet. We actually saw him again this morning. He doesn’t appear to be bothered by people. Maybe because he feels our respect 😊
