Our day in the sun

With family here from out of town, and most everything open now, we took the opportunity to explore our Desert Museum. The weather was just a bit on the warm side, but it was beautiful.

Surprising, it was quite busy. I believe that may be due to Spring Break. It did seem a bit surreal to be out among people. Not just spread out in a restaurant, but out actually interacting in activities in the closest I’ve been to a “crowd” in over a year.

Not all of the activities were open and it wasn’t fully back to normal. But for those of us anxious and excited to be out and about, it was wonderful.

Yes we wore our masks. Yes I hate them. But it is what it is. I love my family, we were making new memories and it was worth every moment.

Live life and love it!

…and to those of you who must wear masks daily as you serve others, work, earn, volunteer and support your family… to you I am eternally grateful.

🙏

  3. Brilliant photographs! That IS a sweet little fox. We have foxes on our property, but they are the woodland variety, rather large, but still adorable, as long as they stay clear of my cats. The cardinal is just amazing. I love it when birds look back at me with that, “What’s up, buddy?” expression. Good show!

    1. Thank you Russell! That cute little fox was in an enclosed outdoor area and I was looking through glass. I was surprised how well it turned out. …we have to protect our small pets from coyotes that roam all over. We are invading their homeland with all our building 😢

      1. Indeed. When I lived in Hollywood, California I used to watch the coyotes roam the streets in the wee hours of the morning. They seemed quite at home. They seemed to vanish into thin air before sunrise. 😃

      2. I like to see them when out hiking etc. It makes me sad to see them in residential areas.

      3. My late wife worked at this park just north of Beverly Hills, called Franklin Canyon. The coyotes there were plump with shiny coats. They looked so happy and contented. In contrast to the coyotes that I’d see in the desert who looked so malnourished.

      4. That is interesting. I think ours have a decent food supply (rabbits!), but I feel sad that our homes have invaded their territory. I looked it up, Franklin Canyon looks beautiful!!

      5. Franklin Canyon is beautiful. They’ve filmed a lot of tv and movies there: opening credits for Andy Griffith Show, episodes of Star Trek, to name a couple.

Looks like a wonderful day out! I love the cactus wren in particular, and the cactus flower too 🙂

So do you need to wear masks even out of doors? Here in the UK we only need them inside public buildings (shops, museums when they reopen, ditto cinemas etc.) and on public transport. But nowhere outdoors, for which I am thankful as like you I hate them!

    1. Thank you! …we don’t need to wear masks outdoors in parks, etc. But in the outdoor attractions such as this, yes we do. 😒 We pulled them down if we weren’t around people. However, there were a lot of visitors that day! I think the business owners request masks just to help protect them.
