I found this beautiful creature Saturday morning. I’ve yet to determine what he/she is. I assume he/she is part of the dragonfly family.
Any thoughts?
I didn’t even realize he/she was in this photo until I looked on my computer. I believe this is a damselfly on the top of the plant. So tiny I was just focused on him.
Wow, those guys are incredible! I am just in awe seeing all God has made, from the littlest to the biggest! WOW!

Beautiful capture, Lisa. I don’t know much about insects. I suggest a search on Google: kinds of dragonflies in (your state)

Thanks Frank! I put it on my iNaturalist app. Usually someone helps me out on the other end. Still waiting for someone to post an ID for me. 😊 Just couldn’t wait any longer and had to put it out there on a blog post!

I think in the first photo it looks like a delicate fairy. Not sure what it is either.

That’s what I think too Donna! Such a cool little creature.

The first image is a Mayfly from the order of insects called Ephemeroptera. And yes, that is a damselfy, but from a separate order called Odonata » suborder Zygoptera 🙂 Lovely photos, Lisa!

Thank you Peter! I can add this to my list of insect discoveries! I hope I see him again when I visit 😊 The preserve where I went last week had those little damselflies everywhere!

Thank you! Yes, I have been quite curious. And upon further reading, it does appear he is somewhat related to the dragonfly. I will be looking for more on my next visit!

Oh, wow. That is a very beautiful, unique creature. I agree, it could be from the Dragonfly family. I love Dragonflies. I used to chaise and catch them as a kid. Thanks for the post and the nostalgic memories.

So delicate and elegant. Makes me think of a bride dressed for her wedding.

As Pete said a Mayfly. As adults they emerge from the water, mate then die all in one day.
