I wanted to join Tracy’s LAPC but wasn’t ready to take Photoshop tutorials for what I originally had in my mind. As I looked through some older photos, I found these underwater pics from an old, broken and quite bad underwater camera. I think it survived two or three snorkeling sessions and gave up.
Although I snorkel whenever I get the chance, the opportunity is rare. Therefore, I have not invested in a quality underwater camera.
These photos were taken in 2013 when we visited Sandals in Antigua (BVI).
I played around with Lightroom and below are the results. The water was murky, the camera was horrible, and I couldn’t hold the little camera very well. But I do remember how fun it was to float around under water. If life had a redo button, I would go back in time and learn to scuba dive. I can’t imagine how surreal it would be to dive deep into the sea.
This challenge brought back great memories. …and these funky photos are a bit surreal, don’t you think?

Thank you, Amy! Maybe not as surreal as some, but I enjoyed playing with the photos and remembering the fun!

OY for the stingray Lisa! Those thing can make a very nasty sting as several of my friends have learned the hard way! That said, loved your underwater photos and agree they have a very surreal feel to them! Thanks for joining the challenge this week – Tracy has outdone us all IMHO!

Lisa, it seems some posts are getting past me! But I’m here now. Its another world under the water, isn’t it. I’ve only been snorkelling once. I think I took some pretty ordinary photos with one of those disposable underwater film cameras. Still it was fun. I particularly like the photo of the swarm of blue fish. And wow, did that ray check you out? Surreal! My immediate thought was Steve Irwin but my TL tells me that some rays are habituated to humans and will come up and nibble on them hoping for a treat.

Thanks Tracy, yes, these were the friendly sort. I’m pretty sure they got some treats! But we were to shuffle our feet to make sure we don’t step on one of them. I think Steve Irwin’s was incredibly rare. And very sad! From what I read they are generally very gentle creatures.

That’s my understanding too, Lisa, but still couldn’t help that initial blood rush. As you can probably tell, I am not a beach person.

It looked like fun to swim with those rays. I love the picture of you and Rich.
