This morning I ran across a flowering bush with several of these beautiful creatures enjoying the blooms. Apparently their sting can be extremely painful for a short period of time, but it is not dangerous to humans (very dangerous to the other creatures they prey on, such as tarantulas!) However, they are not easily provoked and didn’t seem to even notice my presence.
By the way, I had my zoom lens and was about four or five feet away. The morning light brought out the beautiful colors, and the close photo captures their amazing details. They were a joy to photograph!
(Note: yes, they were edited in Lightroom)
Indeed, our everyday world presents intellectual challenges just as daunting as those of the cosmos and the quantum, and that is where 99 per cent of scientists focus their efforts. Even the smallest insect, with its intricate structure, is far more complex than either an atom or a star.
