My birthday adventure last week was a trip across town to visit a couple of parks I have not visited in years. I discovered a few new birds.
The Lark Sparrow is one of them. I could hear these little guys in the trees with a very unique song (in my opinion). After quite some time trying to figure out where the music was coming from, I determined it belonged to these cute Lark Sparrows. It was quite a chase, but I captured several photos.
I found a recording of their songs, on the Audubon website. You can here their song here. It is described as “alternating buzzes and melodious trills”. It was the buzzing noise that caught my ear.
I felt a sense of accomplishment to hear the song, and track down the singer.
