Hotel Hale, Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas

Hotel Hale is the only hotel in the national park. It was one of the old bath houses, remade into a beautiful boutique hotel.

There are many other hotels on Bathhouse Row, located across the park property line, which is actually the main road. However, it is my personal goal to say on national park property whenever possible. This is our sixth national park hotel (or lodge) and the most luxurious given the perks provided.

Parking is a challenge. There is a parking garage available down the road (in the photo below), on the other side. We opted for Valet parking, and we pulled into an unloading area in front of the bathhouse off to the left. A hotel employee would then take it to a nearby parking area. Once we understood how it worked, it was not a problem. There is a lot to see on foot. And up to the left is a mountain with multiple walking and hiking paths.

Looking down Bathhouse Row from the front of Hotel Hale:

The lobby was comfortable and inviting. Off to the left of the photo below was a restaurant. However, it is closed on the two nights we were there.

They have a small pastry and coffee shop as well:

One thing I did not realize, was that they provided breakfast. Although there were not a lot of choices, they offered home made quiche and muffins, as well as yogurt, fruit and granola. Breakfast was available between 8:00 am and 9:00 am and you placed (or changed) your order the night before. It was lovely.

Fresh hot delicious coffee was delivered each morning to our room at whatever time we requested.

The room was beautiful, cozy and very comfortable. It was such a wonderful relaxing experience since the first leg of our journey took us off track due to hospital visit for my husband’s unexpected appendicitis in Texas. We were grateful to still be able to enjoy a few days of our vacation. …and yes, he has recovered just fine!

We had a door that opened to the outside, however, it was up against the back hill and didn’t provide for outdoor seating. It did provide lovely lighting.

I did take a bath in the hot springs water that is pumped into the hotel. There is one other hotel (not on the park property) that has a few rooms with hot springs mineral water pumped in.

Yes the water was blue! And after enjoying the VERY hot water I was quite relaxed.

Our visit was fabulous! The staff were wonderful and helpful. The location was great with easy access to food, shopping and walking paths.

Given the opportunity, yes, I would return.

So welcome. We stopped for a night in Hot Springs on our way to Texas one year. Not long enough to try the spas but you make me wish we did.

I always love staying in your national park lodges, they offer something a bit out of the ordinary and are full of character. This one looks lovely!

    1. It was so lovely! Usually being in the park gets you closer to the park action with less driving, parking, etc. During some Covid restrictions we were at the Lodge in Zion. I didn’t realize there was a lodge there and ended up changing our reservations when I found out. What a smart move that was! It allowed us super easy access to the tram and the trails. Now that is the first thing I check when we want to go visit a park!

The only catch is that you have to book so far in advance! I booked Grant Grove (in Kings Canyon) and also The Ranch at Death Valley for next October back in October of this year, and already options were limited just a week or so after the dates were opened up for reservations!

      2. Yes, we lucked out in Big Bend. For Bryce Canyon, we finagled 2 nights in 2020. When they cancelled everything, I booked for 2021 and got 3 nights, plus a better route. I realized when we did our Utah parks we would have done some backtracking and ended up being happy we had to postpone it. I went on line as soon as my dates opened up for Hotel Hale. They only book 4 months out for their 9 rooms. But I am a planner, so I’m good with all that!

I enjoyed this post. The hotel seems like a great place to stay with modern classic decor (like the brick n the bathroom) and glad your husband recovered – 🙂

    1. Thank you! After a day of rest, he recovered quite quickly, just tired. Now he’s back to normal, minus one appendix!
