I don’t think he was too happy when I almost stepped on him the other night on my evening walk…

We see so many lizards. I don’t see horned lizards too often.
He did a great job of hanging out for a short photo shoot 📸

In Texas we call they Horny Toads! My Grandparents had many in their backyard and I grew up seeing them all the time. Their dog Candy tried to kill anything that came into her yard and would kill the critters then start foaing at the mouth. It never stopped her. I have a small bronze Horny Toad from James Avery on my bookcase as a reminder of my Gramps. 🙂

I’ve never thought of a lizard as being ‘royal’, but I’ll admit that this guy does look kind of special, spotted with all that gold on his body. Good job with those photos.
