Photos of the day

So, I had a thought that I would choose my favorite photo from my walk yesterday, and post it. Until I realized I didn’t have just one. What started out as a slow photo walk, ended with several photo successes.

My take away from yesterday is that composition can really make a photo. I’m far from professional, but I do love looking for background and surrounding colors to compliment my main focal point. I think the first three photos below really showcase my point.

And at the bottom you will see my little awesome surprise…

There is only you and your camera. The limitations in your photography are in yourself, for what we see is what we are. ~Ernst Haas

I love how the foliage in the back compliments the tones of the butterfly πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹

I am forever chasing light. Light turns the ordinary into the magical. ~Trent Parke

The pink flowers stand out this one, but there’s still a lot to look at with the bee on the side and the soft colors in the back.

“You don’t take a photograph, you make it.” ~ Ansel Adams

The way the wings reflect the light, and the soft pinkish tone in the background blend well with the greens in this photo.

“The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.” ~ Dorothea Lange

I thought this one was just a cool photo. Looking directly at the dragonfly with the reed in front, and his wings spread, glistening in the sunlight.

“I am not interested in shooting new things – I am interested to see things new.”
~ Ernst Haas

Below are two shots I just love. Dragonflies can mate in flight and I have seen them flying around together in the air, connected. The top photo below shows two of these dragonflies that kept zipping around the area I was walking.

The bottom photo does not show them connected, but they sure are flying close together! Dragonflies are difficult to photograph in flight, I was quite excited to have captured these two.

“What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.” ~ Karl Lagerfeld

I appreciate feedback! Do you agree with me? Which is your favorite photo?
