I discovered this beauty near the end of my walk around the wetlands this morning. I have this week off work and have enjoyed daily photo walks as the mornings are starting to cool down.
I recently posted what I believe is a young Night-Heron (see post here).
He may have been attempting to nap, notice his eyes are closed in the top photo π

God comes to each of us in the form we can best perceive Him. To you, just now, He was a heron. To someone else, He might come as a flower or even a breeze.
~Richard Zimler

A black-crowned night heron stood on an apron of wet sand, looking across the channel. The feather plume at the back of his head lifted in a faint breeze. Out there the channel churned its cyclonic eddies counterclockwise. Schools of anchovies, halibut, and sea bass came and went: silver flashes, small storms that well up from the inside of the sea but are short-lived, like lightning.
~Gretel Ehrlich
I love herons. Iβm always fascinated by the way they change shape depending on what theyβre doing. Hunched up like little old men like this one. Or Elongated and dagger-like when about to strike. These pictures are terrific.

Thank you Helen! I was going to hang out and see if he actually did something, but a few people wandered up, so I moved on to let them enjoy him. He made my day π
