When I visited our wetlands a couple of weeks ago, right after they cleared some of the reeds, I was surprised with the opportunity to see a sora foraging for food in full view. I would have missed him had it not been for the friendly birder sharing his discovery with passers by.
I have been told they are rarely out in open areas. Although I captured a photo by accident sometime last year, this is the first time I knew what I was looking at. He still blended in, but I managed a few decent photos and this time I really saw my first sora 😊
