On the way home from our Utah parks adventure last May, we stopped in Page, AZ for the night. A site worth visiting is Horseshoe Bend.
When I saw the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: Closer and Closer, I knew this was the perfect time to post my photos of this amazing attraction.
From the City of Page website:
“HORSESHOE BEND is a horseshoe-shaped incised meander of the Colorado River, located in the town of Page, Arizona, United States. The hike is about .6 miles one-way to the overlook. The overlook is about a 1,000’ drop, looking down onto the Colorado River. In 2018, a fenced overlook area was created for viewing safety. However, visitors who want to venture away from the fenced partition are asked to exercise caution; the sandstone edges of the terrain can be unstable causing slides or breaks underfoot.”
Look closely at the photos below 😊

Those are awesome photos. Reminds me of my time living in Northern Arizona. Is beautiful there. Happy weekend, Lisa! ☺️

Thank you, Jeff! I think it would have been super beautiful in the sunshine. But it was hot, so the clouds made the short hike down there more comfortable. It was a fun little side trip 😊

You’re welcome, Lisa. Always! Ah, I totally understand that heat, having lived and hiked in it for years. 😅

Wow Lisa – amazing! You really get a much better sense of scale as you drill down into the close-ups. Have seen many photos of the bend, but never realized how huge it is! A great lesson in perspective and a wonderful example of close and closer!

Thank you, Tina! It was amazing to see, and hard to get it all in one photo without a wide lens. 😊

Well thank you! I would have liked more sun, but it was pretty warm, so the clouds were welcomed! 😊

Your photos are great and let us feel the nature – and I read your comment above about the heat – and in a way we can feel the heat!

Thank you! We complain about the heat, but so many of our trips take us to warm/hot locations!

Gorgeous captures, Lisa! We visited here back in 2016; and it was quite scary to try to see over the cliffs to the bend, there was no railings or fences then!! It was so crowded with busloads of college-aged, the selfies being done and the clowning around going on, we were fully expecting someone to go over. SO glad to see the railing in your photo, really makes me feel better!! 🙂
