Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge, Texas

The last refuge we visited on our Texas road trip last November, was Balcones Canyonlands. Fortunately we found the Visitor’s Center first so we learned what was in the area.

We explored around the Visitor’s Center, then checked out one other area. Because of the time of year, there wasn’t a lot of green or flowers. But there were some fall colors. However, we did see quite a few butterflies and dragonflies.

It was worth a visit, the weather was fabulous and we got to explore the outdoors. It was a different experience from the nature areas we visited near Surfside Beach, Texas.

Check it out if you are ever in the area near Marble Falls, Texas!

Great insect close-ups, especially the dragonfly third from bottom and the grasshopper/cricket (?) just below 🙂
