Finches Gone Wild

Yesterday on my walk I discovered where the finches go when they aren’t partying at my backyard feeder! There were dozens of beautiful finches enjoying the seeds from all the wild flowers that have been growing in a nearby wash.  They were challenging to capture because my camera wanted to focus on the surrounding flowers and plants. I must have deleted at least 100 photos.  But I got a few sweet photos to share 😊

Wow, I love those! We used to have finches at our bird feeder several years ago. Amazing how they would start showing up when we put out the feeder in the spring after it being down all winter long!

    1. Yeah, I was surprised to see all of them, but they come into my yard, so there must be more. Now I know where!

    1. Thank you! I think so. I just tried to look it up and it looks like the yellow finch is also called the American goldfinch. Now I know 😊

    1. Thank you Alice. I’m not sure why I’ve never noticed this before but clearly it’s a great field for them to feed in!

  6. These are gorgeous shots, love the wonderful details, Lisa! And quotes!! If you don’t mind me saying, you’ve captured Lesser Goldfinches and not American. I am envious, I’ve yet to capture a Lesser!

    1. Thank you Donna! No I don’t mind at all! The more photos I take, the more I’m trying to learn exactly what it is I’m photographing. I really appreciate the feedback! 😊
