This past week we visited a unique local petting zoo. My niece was focused on the very sweet, very eager goats. She loved them!
When I saw Lisa’s Bird Weekly Challenge for black and white, I decided to edit a few of the strange and unique birds I photographed at the petting zoo. I do not know most of the bird types, but they were all beautiful and fascinating. The owner said they do exotic breeding, and also had a few rescue animals there.
These feisty emus were very cute:

Aw! These made me smile.

LOL, these are so adorable Lisa! Loved the little emus especially. That last one is a guinea hen, which we saw for the first time in South Africa.

The first shot is a baby Emu and that is so cute! The last shot is a Guineafowl. They are loud and obnoxious! We had one show up in our neighborhood a few years ago. It would fly on our roof and scream! She laid 24 eggs in one of our gardens but there was no male around to fertilize them. New neighbors moved in with a bunch of kids (not from the US) and within a week, that Guineafowl had disappeared. Hmmm! Coincidence??? I think not! I don’t know a lot about chicken species but these were awful cute! 🙂

LOL! Thanks Lisa! I loved the emus! I had to get creative to snap photos through the fence wires. The lady gave us a tour of the birds and a few animals and she did tell us what all they were, but I wasn’t taking any notes 😊 I love getting the opportunity to take photos of new creatures!

yes, fencing can be a challenge. Animals and birds are as good as people photography. I love taking candids of people especially when they put food in their mouths. Strange how that is. Haven’t had any peeps to photograph lately though since covid. Birds it is! 🙂

I’m working on more people photos. I agree with you on the candid shots (maybe not with food 😊) But birds are always good!

Birds are are my favorite to shoot, obviously. I miss capturing a look or feelings of people though. 😊

Love these pics Lisa. So glad you did all of this with the family. I’ll have to find a petting zoo here and then have you guys come. We would love that. Virgil and I once took a photo class, Black & White at Mt. Hood College. What fun that was. Love the black and white photo’s.
