Harris’s Hawk

On my recent visit to our wetlands park, I saw this Harris’s Hawk up in a tree. I was able to get a few photos of him. He was far away, but I cropped the photo below for a closer view. I almost missed him. A reminder to always look up!

In October we visited our Desert Museum. We happened to be there when they were doing some raptor training before the live shows started. I had the opportunity to practice some in-flight photos. I need more practice. However, the four bottom photos are from that day. It was amazing to be so close to the action!

  1. Wow…amazing shots. I have only seen a Harris’s Hawk at a conservancy. It would be so neat to see them in the wild.

    1. Thank you! I love seeing any animal in the wild, especially with my camera in hand 😊 I’m trying to get better at capturing action, but I’m also trying to just appreciate what I do get!

What a good looking hawk, Lisa! Love your photo where it looks like it’s hovering in the air. They are flown up here at the High Desert Museum even though they don’t live nearby.
