One of my favorite trinkets acquired on our recent road trip through Big Bend National Park, was this small wire dragonfly on display at the Rio Grande Overlook next to the border. A small sign states prices (some items were tagged) and that the crafts were from Boquillas, Mexico.
The Big Bend Visitor’s guide says we are not to purchase from any “souvenir stands” in the park near the border. We discovered this after we returned home. It is hard to imagine that the park is not aware of this display, as it was just up the road from the border crossing port of entry.
Therefore, I will enjoy my adopted little dragonfly stowaway. 😊💙

What a beautiful little piece of art!!! What a brilliant find Lisa! I love your adopted little stowaway!!

Thank you, Anita! He has a special place in my guest bedroom where all my travel goodies are “displayed.”

That’s really bright and pretty! I suspect that by buying it you’ve helped out someone who really needed the money you spent, so I wouldn’t feel in the slightest bit guilty if you’ve inadvertently broken a park rule 😀

Thanks Sarah! At least I was not alone as there were others there checking out the items. The seller was not there. I think we park visitors are very trustworthy! 😊

We saw that as well… and we purchased a saguaro that was beaded. We thought it was a very nice gesture on their part. We never saw that park rule.
Your dragon fly is quite lovely.

Thank you, Nancy. I just noticed it a few days ago reading through the visitor’s guide. I bet your saguaro is beautiful!

That’s a cute trinket. I agree, it’s hard to believe they’re not aware of that display.
