Is Siesta Beach #1?

That’s what the sign says.  And according to their website, they continuously make it to the top of the list for best beaches in the US, and receive high marks by travelers worldwide.

So when we were in the area recently, we were encouraged to go and see the beach.  Since one of my sole purposes in life is to see as many beaches as I possibly can, we were off!

It was a beautiful day, and we were not the only ones hitting the beach.  With a huge parking area, although they were scarce, we did find a place to park.  We are beach walkers. We spent a good amount of time walking down the beach, people watching, and enjoying the ocean air. It was a beautiful walk, but we did have to dodge the active beachgoers.

I particularly love photographing birds, and there were many!

We even found a few sand castles.

After taking a leisurely walk along the beach, we checked at the info station and found out a trolley would take us a mile down the road to an eating and shopping area.  Our timing was perfect as we were able to snag the trolley passing by when we left the beach area.  We enjoyed a nice dinner and then walked back along the beach to wait for sunset.

Further down the beach there were less people.  The water and beach were beautiful!

As we walked back along the beach we saw others enjoying the setting sun.  One couple had their own music playing and they were dancing their Happy Dance in the sunlight.

Once we were back to where we started, we relaxed on the steps of the lifeguard station and watched the people, and the setting sun.

It was beautiful, peaceful, relaxing, and a wonderful way to end our day.

An adventure we were glad we didn’t miss.

Sunsets are so beautiful that they almost seem as if we were looking through the gates of Heaven.

  3. Beach sunsets are probably the most beautiful I’ve ever seen! Thank you for sharing this. I lived in Jupiter, FL when I was a little girl and I remember going to the beach early in the morning to “play” with the minnows in the tide. This brought back so many wonderful memories, thank you for sharing!
